Exclusive Interview: Caleb Jones – Rising Star of Stephanian Ottery's U12 Team

At We Are Stephs, we love showcasing the talent and dedication of our young footballers. Today, we chat with Caleb Jones, a promising U12 player who is making strides in his football journey at Stephanian Ottery AFC.

Q:What inspired you to start playing football, and how did you join Stephanian Ottery?

My parents inspired me to play football at a young age and I joined Stephanians because I saw it as a great opportunity to become a better footballer at my club.

Q: What do you enjoy most about being part of the Stephanian Ottery team?

I enjoy the Stephanians community, togetherness and the willingness to help eachother. After all we are Stephs, right?

Q: How does playing for the club make you feel when you're on the field?

Being on the field especially when playing for my club is a feeling that goes beyond just a sport itself because we are a team that’s striving for a common goal together.

Q: How do your teammates and coaches support you and make the club special?

They build trust, encouragement, open communications and creates a fun and engaging environment.

Q: What skills or lessons have you learned from playing for Stephanian Ottery that help you both on and off the field?

By taking responsibility on and off the field along with problem solving, teamwork, communication, time management and great sportsmanship.

Q: How do you prepare for matches, and what motivates you to give your best for the club?

To start my day in the mood I want to end it with. A proper 8 hour sleep along with team greeting, warms ups but most importantly, a prayer.

Q: What makes Stephanian Ottery different from other clubs, in your opinion?

Their history and the large and passionate fan base that creates a unique atmosphere along with a strong support system.

Q: Who is your biggest role model in football, and how does playing for Stephanian Ottery help you follow in their footsteps?

Virgil Van Dijk, Stephs can help me to achieve exceptional defensive abilities. They can also provide a structured environment for my skills development.

Q: What are your goals for the future as a player, and how does Stephanian Ottery help you achieve them?

To one day represent the club in the Bayhill tournament and to later play for the first team of Stephs.
