Strong Youth Performances Highlight Busy Weekend for Stephanian Ottery

Stephanian Ottery teams were in action across multiple divisions over a packed weekend of football, producing a blend of strong victories, hard‑fought draws and valuable lessons, with the club’s youth structures once again leading the way.

Seniors and Vets: Resilience and Response

The weekend began on Friday evening with the Vets 040 A side earning a solid 1–1 draw against FN Rangers at Stephanian Ottery A. In a tightly contested match, both sides showed their experience and organisation, with Ottery doing enough to take a deserved share of the spoils.

Saturday proved more challenging for the First Division team, who narrowly lost 2–1 away to JMI at Norway Parks Royal Road B. Despite creating chances and staying competitive throughout, Ottery were unable to overturn the deficit.

The response from the club’s senior ranks was emphatic in the First Reserve fixture. Stephanian Ottery turned in one of the standout performances of the weekend, overpowering JMI 6–2 away from home with an impressive attacking display.

In the veterans’ divisions, results were mixed. The Vets 050 A team went down 3–1 to Hanover Park, while the Over 50 C side showed tremendous character to secure a 2–2 draw away at Table View, picking up a valuable point on the road.

Youth Teams Shine Across the Board

Saturday morning and midday fixtures delivered plenty of positives for Stephanian Ottery’s youth teams.

The Under 18 Premier Two side continued their steady progress with a 2–2 draw against Kensington at home, while the Under 16 Premier Two team produced a dominant performance, sweeping aside Kensington 5–0 in one of the most convincing results of the weekend.

Results were split at Under 16 level, with the Division Five B team falling 4–0 to Fish Hoek B, but gaining valuable experience against strong opposition.

At Under 14 level, the club enjoyed contrasting fortunes. The Premier Two side lost narrowly 3–2 to Kensington, but the Division Five B team delivered a superb 7–1 victory over Fish Hoek B, showcasing clinical finishing and attacking confidence. The Under 14 Girls Premier One team also impressed away from home, producing a commanding 3–0 win against Norway Parks, one of the standout team performances of the day.

Junior Teams Continue to Build

The club’s younger age groups also made a strong contribution. The Under 12 Premier Two team edged Kensington 1–0 at home in a disciplined showing, while the Under 12 Division Five B side secured a comfortable 3–0 victory over Fish Hoek B.

The Under 12 Division Six C team faced a tough challenge and went down 3–1 to Grass Boots B, but continued to gain valuable match experience as the season progresses.

Looking Ahead

With big wins at youth level, a statement performance from the First Reserves, and hard‑fought results across the senior and veterans’ divisions, Stephanian Ottery’s weekend once again highlighted the depth and commitment throughout the club. As attention turns to the next round of fixtures, there is plenty of encouragement to build on in the weeks ahead.
