Goal-Fests & Gritty Battles: A Saturday of Heart at Stephs!

It was a whirlwind weekend of football for the club, featuring everything from high-scoring masterclasses to nail-biting defensive stands. While the scoreboards told many different stories, the spirit across all divisions remained unmistakably "Stephs."

The Senior Stage: Fine Margins

The senior sides faced off against a tough Bellville City outfit in two encounters that could have gone either way.

  • First Division: In a defensive chess match, the Firsts unfortunately fell 0-1 to Bellville City. Despite the narrow loss, the intensity on the pitch proved we can go toe-to-toe with the best in the league.

  • First Reserve: The Reserves provided a four-goal thriller, battling to a 2-2 draw. A point earned through sheer persistence!

  • Over 45s: Our veterans showed they’ve still got the magic, locking in a 1-1 draw against Tableview in a physical, tactical encounter.

Junior Brilliance: The U12 Goal Explosion

The U12 contingent was arguably the highlight of the weekend, particularly with the A-team finding their clinical edge.

  • U12 A: An absolute masterclass! The boys put on a clinic in their friendly against Noordhoek, walking away with a massive 8-3 victory.

  • Friendship Cup News: A huge shoutout to the U12 B squad for reaching the Plate Semi-Finals, and the U12 C team for their valiant effort in the Group Stages. The future is looking bright!

Youth Report: Testing the Best

Our older youth teams faced a massive challenge against the formidable Young Bafana and Clyde Pinelands.

  • The Bafana Battles: It was a tough day at the office against Young Bafana. The U14 A fell 0-3, while the U16 A fought hard in a high-scoring 2-4 loss. However, the U18s showed incredible character to hold them to a 1-1 stalemate.

  • Success Against Clyde: The U14 B team provided the weekend's youth highlight with a gritty 2-1 win over Clyde Pinelands! Meanwhile, the U16 B played out a tense 1-1 draw in their fixture.

A Quick Look at the Rest

  • U14 Girls: A tough break this weekend as the match was forfeited to Bothasig. We’ll be back on the pitch and ready to go for the next one!

Final Word: Whether it was the eight-goal haul from the U12s or the hard-fought draws against top-tier opposition, the pride in the jersey was evident. We take the lessons, we keep the points, and we go again next week!
