As the dust settles a week after our Centenary Celebration, we have one more set of photographs to share with you. It also offers us an opportunity to thank all the role players who offered their expertise in making our milestone event a memorable occasion.
A massive thank you to our City Mayor who opened up our evening with a wonderful speech in recognition of our 100 year anniversary. He is certainly a man who is in touch with his community and the work that he does to improve all aspects of our city is testament to his fine character. To our Life Member, Graham Bennett, thank you for your key note address that traced the origin and history of our club. To all our service, providers: The Black Ties. Carmen Xclusive, DJs Alister Harrison and Mark Grainger, Leighton’s Caterers, Snazzy Events Décor, Les de Vos and our under 16 girls and boys waiting staff, you have all made our event a special celebration indeed. A big thank you to all our Life Members, players, coaches, parents and followers who were in attendance.
A special acknowledgement to our Executive Committee of 2024. Clive April, Grant Koks, David Africa, Kathryn Philander, Lance Janari, Jason Hendricks, Jose Barendilla, Michelle August, Winston Bailey, Clint Courie, Shaun Elliot, Byron Poole, Shahied Perin and Denver Johnson, you guys have played a crucial role in steering the club this year as we planned this massive occasion. Your selfless service in support of our club is what makes Stephanian-Ottery AFC a special place to be part of. We have had many challenges this year of 2024 and many things could of and should have been better in our football operation. But 2025 will offer us the opportunity to improve on all our shortcomings and allow us to flourish as we continue to grow.
In conclusion, our Centenary Committee must be given a massive round of applause for planning the magnificent Gala Dinner at The Banquet Hall of the Cape Town Civic Centre. Months of meticulous planning ensured that everything fell into place as the historic event unfolded. Kurt Neethling, Allistair Bunding, Kathryn Philander, Clive April, David Africa and Lance Janari, your work has ensured that our Centenary Event will be forever enshrined in our history. You have shown that our name transcends the dimensions of the football field. “Stephs” is much bigger than that.
